Bespoke Illuminated Display Case for a 1:8 Scale Aston Martin Model Car

We were commissioned to design and manufacture a bespoke illuminated display case for a collector’s 1:8 scale Aston Martin model car. The objective was to create a contemporary showcase that would protect the model while presenting it in a premium, museum-quality display worthy of such an iconic vehicle.

The display enclosure was manufactured from 8mm crystal-clear acrylic, providing exceptional clarity from every viewing angle while protecting the model from dust and handling. The acrylic panels were precision cut and polished before being assembled into a seamless display case with crisp, clean edges.

To reduce the overall weight without compromising strength, both the top canopy and base were manufactured from 20mm Foamex PVC board. This lightweight material provided excellent rigidity while creating a modern contrast against the transparent acrylic enclosure.

To enhance the presentation, we integrated a cool white LED light panel into the ceiling of the display case. The concealed lighting evenly illuminates the entire model, highlighting the fine details and creating a soft, museum-quality glow without distracting hotspots or harsh shadows.

The model itself sits on a raised display plinth, giving the car greater visual presence and allowing the lighting to showcase its proportions from every angle.

To complete the presentation, we designed and produced a custom stainless steel 3D Aston Martin badge. A precision mould was created to form the raised metal emblem, which was then polished to a high-quality finish before being mounted onto the front of the display case, adding an authentic luxury finishing touch.

Every component was designed, manufactured and assembled in-house, ensuring complete control over quality, fit and finish throughout the project. The result is an elegant display case that combines precision engineering with premium materials to create a striking collector’s piece.
